I am a graduate of the University of South Florida where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Science with a minor in Military Science. I was a recipient of the 4-year Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) scholarship and received an Educational Delay to attend medical school upon graduation from college. I attended Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine prior to entering onto active duty. I currently serve as Chief of Podiatry at the military hospital in El Paso.
I have volunteered through various organizations during school and have always loved to give back to the community. I learned about Smile Train Team EMPOWER in 2014 and was inspired by all the athletes racing IMAZ. I decided in 2015 to complete my first IRONMAN 70.3 with Smile Train Team EMPOWER by choosing my own race, IMAZ 70.3. I spent several months training and raising money with so much happiness as I crossed the finish line knowing that kids around the world were smiling! I quickly fell in love with the sport and the charity. I raced my first full IRONMAN at Arizona in November 2016 with Smile Train Team EMPOWER to continue to help kids smile. I love working with all of the Smile Train Team EMPOWER athletes and am excited for the 2017 racing season!
