It is an honor to be part of the Smile Train Team EMPOWER Alumni Committee for a second year. Smile Train is important to me as it is a well-run organization that provides opportunities not only for the kids but for the athletes fundraising to make a tremendous impact on someone else’s life. With triathlon you end up spending a lot of time making yourself better. Smile Train provides the link not only to do this but to change a child’s life forever— making triathlon all the better!
Professionally, I work as a manager of a client service team at TD Ameritrade. I grew up in Southwest Michigan and spent my summers sailing on the waters of Lake Michigan. I’ve been participating in triathlons since 2010 when I joined Team in Training (“TNT”) to help fundraise for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, where I was the top fundraiser for the Chicago Steelhead 70.3 team. Starting in 2011, I was a mentor with TNT and also met my wife, Jordan, through triathlon as she was a TNT coach. Since then, I have completed several 70.3 races, the Chicago Marathon, and finished IRONMAN Wisconsin in 2013 and 2016.
Recently, I’ve been doing more gravel endurance rides on my CX bike, exploring back roads where our tri-bikes would fail big time and really enjoying this fun new experience. My support team includes my wife Jordan as well as my Mom, Dad, and Sister!
