My triathlon journey began later in life compared to most people in the field. Until about four years ago I had never ran more than a mile, I didn’t own a racing bike and swimming was what I did to cool off during trips to the beach.

My triathlon adventure began with a Sprint in Nantucket which lit the fire to want to do more. My goal became to complete an IRONMAN 70.3 by the time I was fifty. I did this at IRONMAN 70.3 New Orleans in 2013. My ultimate goal then became finishing a full IRONMAN, which I did at IRONMAN Arizona in 2014.

The completion of my first full was one of my greatest accomplishments and thrills in life. I’ve overcome many challenges in life, including not being able to walk 15 years ago, making these accomplishments that much sweeter!

I raced IRONMAN Arizona again with Smile Train in 2015 and I’m so excited to be involved for another year with such a rewarding team.
