I’m a native of Tucson, Arizona, and had never done a triathlon when I decided I wanted to do an IRONMAN. After looking into IRONMAN Arizona and seeing that Smile Train was the official charity partner of the race it became a no-brainer. Always liking to challenge and push my body to the limit I was excited for what was in store, but had no idea what exactly I had gotten myself into.
By July I learned to swim and in August completed my first sprint triathlon. Although many days were overwhelming, mixing in training with 50+ hour work weeks and school full time, I was always able to refocus on my goal knowing that all his hard work was going towards something bigger than myself.
I was ready and excited to represent Smile Train at IRONMAN Arizona and on November 16, 2014 I crossed the finish line and became an IRONMAN. Finishing this race was one of my most rewarding accomplishments not only because I became an IRONMAN that day, but because of all the smiles I helped bring to children across the world.
I’m a second-year ambassador and excited to help others achieve their goals of becoming an IRONMAN all while giving children smiles and a new chance at life.
