Cleft patient from Zimbabwe

Faith had felt isolated from her community and worried for her daughter’s future, ever since Anashe was born with a cleft lip. So, when a visitor to their farm shared that cleft surgery was available three hours away in Harare, Zimbabwe, Faith hopped onto the next bus.

On their arrival at Smile Train’s local partner in Harare, Faith was told that the surgery would be free-of-cost to the family.

When Faith worried that free surgery might be too good to be true, the staff at Harare Central Hospital shared images of the transformations of other Smile Train-supported patients.

The next day, when Anashe woke up from her cleft lip surgery, Faith said, “I barely recognise my daughter. I hope that Smile Train donors will continue to help children like mine until the end of time. I am so grateful.”
